We all love a day out at the beach! Spending the day in the sunshine as a family, somewhere with fun for everyone. So, we have gathered together a list of what we think are the best beaches in the South East.

West Wittering Beach

West Wittering Beach is a sandy beach with grassy picnic areas and a cafe, there are toilets and parking facilities available also. The Blue Flag Award beach, is lined with multi coloured beach huts, available to hire, in a relatively flat coastal area. There are water-sports available such as surfing, windsurfing and kite-surfing. In the summer there are lifeguards present, deck chair hire and surf lessons available. There are great cafes and restaurants near by including ones on the beach itself such as Billy's On The Beach. When the tide is out it leaves shallow pools of warm water that are perfect for youngsters to splash and play in.


Littlehampton Beach

Littlehampton Beach is a mile long, family friendly, pebble and sand beach. There are facilities available and lifeguards patroll the beach during the summer. Once the tide goes out the sand is revealed, which means the children can make sandcastles. There is a promenade, amusements, theme park, well maintained seafront gardens and lots of cafes too.


Mudeford Beach

Mudeford Beach is a sandy beach with exclusive beach huts and facilities including The Beach House Café, shop and public toilets. There are lots of water-sports available such as Kayaking, Jet-skiing, Water skiing and Wind surfing. There is no direct road access and the nearest parking is around 15 minutes walk away. If you don't want to walk then there is a year round land train running from Hengistbury Head car park to Mudeford Sandbank. For children and families, crabbing is very popular and you can buy nets, buckets and bait from the shop at the end of the Quay if you don't have your own.


Hayling Island

Hayling Island beach is a pebble beach, with long stretches of sand at low tide. With water activities available such as wind surfing, water skiing and sailing. There is plenty to do out of the water too! With a fairground and crazy golf plus a variety of places to grab some food. There is a first aid point and parking facilities.


Bournemouth Beach

Bournemouth Beach is a sandy beach with so much to do! There is the pier, a variety of water-sports available, cafes, shops, amusment arcades and an oceanarium all within minutes from the beach. There are also lifeguards, beach huts available to hire and parking facilities near by.


Sandbanks Beach

Sandbanks Beach is a golden sand beach with clean waters. The soft sand is ideal for playing in and kids will be able to build sandcastles. With such great facilities including a large and challenging crazy-golf course situated behind the beach as well as mini golf course. There's also a childrens play area with climbing, swings, sand diggers and sensory play area. There's lots of watersports and equipment hire available as well. There is a promenade with cafes and shops and there's also a mini road-train that gives rides along the seafront. There is car parking available next to the beach, toilets and lifeguards patrol during the summer.


Southsea Beach

Southsea beach is a pebble beach and situated behind it is the promenade and behind that a recreation area with a popular canoe lake. The lake gets its water from the sea and a variety of crabs, fish and other marine wildlife can be found here. Children can enjoy fishing for creatures in the lake. The beach lies less than a mile south of Portsmouth city centre, where there are many shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a pier that provides lots of family fun.


Lyme Regis Beach

Lyme Regis Beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles. There is parking and toilet facilities close by and lifeguards patrol the beach during the summer. Fossil hunting is very popluar, but if you're not interested in fossils then there is still lots to do including swimming, surfing, water skiing and wind surfing. Boardering the beach are lots of kiosks, cafes and restaurants.


Avon Beach

Avon Beach is a sandy beach, with a safe, gentle slope into the sea. The beach has its own beach level car park. There are Cafés, restaurants and a beach shop, plus beach huts for hire. Lifeguards partol the beach during the summer months. The beach is designated for bathing but there is an area near the car park that is allocated for water-sports.


Weymouth Beach

Weymouth Beach is a sand beach with a gradual sloping seabed and clean waters offer swimmers, bathers and water sports enthusiasts idyllic and safe conditions to suit every taste. With attractions such as, Punch and Judy, donkeys, children’s rides and pedalos there is plenty to keep your children occupied. On the harbourside there is car parking, restaurants, cafes and shops. There are toilets and changing facilities along the beachfront. During the summer there are Lifeguards, Lost Children Services and Beach Attendants all in place to ensure you and your family can enjoy your day out in safety.


Charmouth Beach

Charmouth Beach is a mix of snad and pebbles. The beach is famous for its fossils, you can find out how to hunt for your own fossils by joining one of the regular guided fossil walks. There are 3 car parks within short walk to beach and beach huts are available. Toilets are located behind the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.
