Rooks Nest
Rooks Nest Woodland is located off Barkham Ride on the south side of Wokingham. The Woodland is full of wildlife and is known for its special fen.
Rooks Nest is a 1.6km circular walk through the meadow and woodland on a surfaced path so its very buggy friendly. There is also a network of smaller paths which can be hidden by the over grown fen, which are only really suitable for walkers.
There neighbouring fields are often used for agricultural grazing, the little ones often get excited when they see the animals!
You can also extend your walk by following the waymarked link to Barkham Church and beyond (through the woodland). You can also walk to California Country Park from here by crossing onto the opposite side of Barkham Ride.
If you notice the streams around here are all orange, don’t worry they are not polluted! The orange indicates the presence of iron-loving bacteria feeding on the iron in the water!
There is a convenient free carpark which is just off the Barkham Road.
