Let’s Go on a Bug Hunt!
Going on a bug hunt with children is one of the most enjoyable activities you can do outdoors. The best part is you can pretty much find bugs anywhere, even in your backyard and it’s a different experience every time! It also gives children, a deeper understanding of, and respect for, the mini-worlds around them.
We invite you to Wokingham’s first citizen science project to count bugs in your garden, local park or in your local school. It’s easy. All you need is 15 minutes, a little segment of your garden, parkland or woodland and the thirst for knowledge and adventure!
You can find the instructions here Wokingham Big Bug Hunt
Your identification key is here Minibeast Identification Key
Woodland Minibeast Count sheet here Woodland Count Sheet
Meadow Minibeast Count Sheet here Meadow Count Sheet
Please send us the results via email bloom@wokingham-tc.gov.uk (a photo of your count sheets is perfect) or drop them off at Wokingham Town Hall, Market Place, addressed to Wokingham in Bloom.
Thank you and have fun!
