Drawing on themes from her middle grade debut novel, The Shell Keepers, Truly will talk about how different parts of ecosystems depend on each other and how we can all play a part in protecting the world around us. She will explore with you how the world of the Democonch, tiny people living in shells, in The Shell Keepers, connects to the human world. She will then go on to share some incredible real life examples of interdependencies between species.

- Approx 45 mins for talk then followed by a book signing.
Truly Johnston was born in London and is mixed heritage Sri Lankan & English. Having spent her childhood singing to herself and making up stories, she continues to spend her adulthood singing and making up stories. Truly has a degree in English Literature from the University of Cambridge and has worked in the charity and public sectors. Her debut novel, The Shell Keepers won the Bath Children’s Novel Award 2022, and will be published through Chicken House Books in June 2025. Truly lives in South East London with her husband, young daughter and three lovely chickens.
