Christmas Events in and around Wokingham

Christmas is a magical time of year for all the family and Wokingham has some of the most wonderful events around. In this handy guide you will find information on lots of local Christmas events along with some slightly further afield that we feel are worth the extra miles. There are festive farms, lights trails, meet and greets with the big man himself and some festive afternoons teas.

The Christmas Illuminated Garden Adventure at West Green House (Ad) 

Giant 10 to 15ft high fountains dancing to music rise from the lake. The mile long trail around the lake lit by thousands of lights tells the story of Alice in Wonderland, told in spectacular illuminated installations designed by our guest designers. This year the gardens Five Bridges become tunnels of light with creatures beneath, whilst in the Paradise Garden like magic transforms into the flamingo’s crocket lawn! New and fabulous Christmas Tree decorations from the Garden shops are a memento of a glorious evening. A menu of new and old favourite warming drinks and hot ‘food to go’ can be found in the cabins along the sparkling trail and it’s the beautifully decorated Tea Room for Christmas spiced wine, hot chocolate, coffee and delicious hot food to meet your friends.

The West Green Pantomime, Alice’s adventures with the Dormouse 

16th - 22nd December

Again we have commissioned a new pantomime designed to delight all the family, especially the littlest. With an original script and music, our sweet pantomime is designed to keep a small persons attention and for you to enjoy performers who you have seen at an Opera or on a West End stage, letting their hair down for they love returning again for us to West Green.

Warming drinks, hot food and treats are available to purchase in the Pavilion Theatre.

Elsa & Olaf Family Sing Along Lunch (Ad)

Join The Village Hotel Club Bracknell for this festive sing along with Elsa and Olaf. This event includes live family entertainment and a two course lunch.

Wokingham Winter Carnival 

With over 125 stalls, funfair rides, food and entertainment there will be lots to do and see.

Wokingham Winter Carnival is a FUN day out for the whole family. The town is closed to traffic for the day so children can join in the fun in a totally safe environment.

ElfPlex at GolfPlex (Ad) 

Looking for fun with the kids this December. The elves have turned GolfPlex into ElfPlex! 

They've even covered the Polar course to protect the presents from the weather, and they are giving away hot drinks, mulled wine, mince pies and cupcakes. There will be some fab festive activities including, bauble decorating, colouring in, lucky dip bins and face painting.

Christmas at Beale Park 

Christmas is coming to Beale Park! Santa and his elves will be visiting us this festive season.

Meet Santa, and his helpers in our fairy-tale grotto. Each child will receive a special gift from Santa’s workshop (inclusive of the meet Santa ticket). As well as meeting Santa there is the opportunity to also meet his reindeer. *Reindeer feeding tickets are available to book separately on the booking page.

Santa's Chocolate Grotto (Gifted) 

Chocolates for Chocoholics can’t wait to meet Santa in his grotto again this year, and you are welcome to join him at his Chocolate workshop in Hurst!

In this 45 min - 1 hour experience, once guests receive their magical Christmas passport, they will make and decorate their own Christmas chocolate lollies with Mrs Claus before joining our jolly Elf having fun at the Christmas craft station. Once finished, guests will be able to see Father Christmas and receive a gift. You can even bring your letter to Santa and post them to the North Pole in our magical post box.

Each ticket allows the participant to make chocolate lollies, visit the Christmas craft station and receive a gift from Santa himself.

Jingle Bell Jog 

This event is perfect for the whole family to get out of the house for some fresh air and exercise. Join us for a pre-race warm up on the Emmbrook Junior School playground before heading off on the 2 mile, mostly off road, safe route around Emmbrook, Wokingham. 

For those that don’t wish to Jog, the Festive Fair will take place inside the Emmbrook Infant School Hall and on the Emmbrook Junior School playground with various stalls including a bottle tombola, a confectionary tombola, crafts to buy, an arts & crafts stall plus hot chocolate, homemade cakes, mince pies, hot dogs & more. There is no charge for visitors to the Fair.

Christmas at Chobham Adventure Farm 

Christmas Adventure:

This year the animal barn will be magically trasnformed in to the Reindeer Lodge, where all of Santa's real Reindeer will be staying. Make your very own Reindeer food to take home, This is all part of your normal ticket price. Running from 12th Nov - 8th Jan.

Family Christmas Party 

Come and join us at Argyle Community Church our free annual family Christmas party!

All ages are welcome, but this event is most suitable for those with pre-school and primary school aged children. Children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult. We’ll have all sorts of festive themed games, crafts and refreshments, including a treasure hunt adventure through the Christmas story. Free entry including access to all crafts and activities, and a variety of festive refreshments.

Family Christmas Concert

It's a really lovely way to start the festive season with a programme of Christmas themed music and family favourites along with carols for everyone to join in. Bring the whole family - adult tickets are £10 while tickets for children (18 and under) are free. We usually invite some of our younger audience members to try their hand at conducting the orchestra which is quite an experience and a lot of fun. The concert starts at 4.30pm until about 6pm, with an interval for tea and cakes.

Carols at the Minster

We are delighted to invite one and all to celebrate the holiday season with the charity PACT (Parents and Children Together) this year at Reading Minster on Friday 1st December. Join us for a family-friendly concert of music, readings, performances and Christmas reflections to celebrate family life and raise money for PACT’s work with children, families and the local community.

Children are invited to dress up and there will be a chance to meet Ana, Elsa and Olaf and have your photo taken! Enjoy festive performances from local groups including Universal Voices Children's Community Choir, Reading Rock Choir and Readiophonics. Dan Simpson, TV presenter of Fun Kids Weekly, will be bringing festive fun as compere.

Jakes Play Farm

Play in the soft play, take a ride around the lake with the reindeer (Gold package only) visit Santa in his grotto, receive a gift, help the elves make a biscuit in the gingerbread factory and finish off your trip out on the farm. Millers Ark Farm – Hook

This wonderful farm prides itself on its hands on approach with animals. Get up close and personal with chickens/goats/pigs and donkeys. Millers Ark is a truly wonderful place and they are holding various Christmas events but don’t delay these will get booked up.
